Energy Saving Tips.

Natural gas heating will save you a lot of money. And you can save even more with these energy-saving tips from AOG.

According to the United States Department of Energy, natural gas will remain the least expensive form of energy for residential consumers for the foreseeable future.

If you follow these simple suggestions, you will save even more!

Before Winter Comes:
—Replace or clean the air filter in your forced air heating system—this should be done at least twice during the winter season.

—Cover attic fan openings with heavy plastic or vinyl and seal with duct tape. Use blinds and drapes to your advantage—keep them closed except to let sunshine in on sunny days.

—Weather-strip windows and doors with materials you can buy at your favorite hardware store or hardware counter at your favorite department store.

—Seal off window air conditioners (inside and outside) and apply duct tape around the windows in which air conditioners are installed.

—Locate the sources of drafts and eliminate them using duct tape, caulking, or other materials as required.

—Check furniture placement—don't position furniture over or in front of heat outlets.

—Repair all water leaks. Even small leaks can waste up to 50 gallons of water each month, and the energy required to heat it. There you have it! These tips will save you money.

One more thing
—AOG strongly recommends that you have your furnace inspected and serviced by a qualified heating contractor before the first cold weather hits.
